Lantis is the mortal heartland to the elves. Certainly there are other kingdoms that boast strong populations of elves and Lantis is not a purely elven nation, but Lantis is where the elves settled when they first came from the fae realms and it is their home away from home. The island of Lantis is primarily divided into two sections the western nation called Lantis and the eastern nation of Le Muria. The nation of Lantis is a land of forests and hills; whereas, Le Muria is primarily a mountainous region. Lantis is home primarily to Urban Elves and is ruled by a council of elders made up from the great families, though they defer ultimaely to the rulership of the Elven Lord and Lady; Le Muria is home primarily to Deep Elves and Dwarves and is similarly ruled by a council of elders who’s membership comes from both elven families and dwarven clans.
Both nations rely on strong magics that were put in place by the Elven Lord and Lady ages ago to protect them from harm. Mages within the councils are periodically called on to check on the barriers that protect the island. Occasionally, a portion of the magics will become weakened either because of the fickle nature of fey magic or because of the actinos of a particularly strong opposition force and in those cases mages from the council and the communities will work to repair and defend the barriers.
The primary language on the island is elvish, but everyone speaks multiple languages with common, dwarvish, and gnomish being commonly spoken by most inhabitants.
Major cities on Lantis include the city-state of Lantis, Les Lenora, Ossenore, Cyran Asari, Theethlion, Iya Serine, Galmenora, Nylve Nalore, Hyenaserin, A’fa Caelora, Ollhodell, A’me Alora, Neve Thalor, Milaluma, Filenalond, and Selran Belanore.
